Is it just me or has Shapo been getting screwed lately with having to play two matches a day in recent tournaments?
Yeah he's had to play two matches a day in his 3 latest tournaments (Geneva, Stuttgart, Queens)
It’s also because he’s a popular player and so they usually schedule him last.
I mean its happened in 2/12 of his tournaments this year, which is more than average but still not a lot
Anyone know if I’ll get the centre court matches if I get espn+ for Wimbledon?
In past years, no.
Lol top 3 seeds in Mallorca are all wildcards
I thought Djokovic was playing! Good on him to show up just for an exhibition match.
He's playing doubles also
Felix lost 8 finals in a row cause he wanted to get this amazing Halle trophy as his first win. You heard it here first.
Beating Fed could be a huge mental boost for him. His problems seem to be 99% mental, so maybe riding that confidence could really elevate his game.
Man I sure hope so. He’s such a good guy and his mental woes have really let him down.
Djokovic in the inauguration ceremony of the Mallorca grass tournament. You cannot make this shit up lol
Me eavesdropping on Uncle Toni and Novak 👂👂
Ayy nice win for vika
This Mallorca showmatch is genuinely good entertainment! [https://www.mallorca-championships.com/en/livestream](https://www.mallorca-championships.com/en/livestream)
Djoko+Goran vs. Haas+Deliziano
Too bad it’s not Goran and looks like it’s Novak’s brother Marko playing with him. I would be a little disappointed if I was a fan at not getting to see Goran as well.
You must not have been watching from the start. Marko subbed in at about half the set.
Goran played singles with Haas and doubles with Novak up to like 2-2 but he injured his shoulder, apparently
He said his injury is getting old. :D
It’s funny and sad that Novak is playing in Mallorca and Rafa isn’t
I missed it, why is the Shapovalov match suspended and is it resuming later?
Rain rain and more rain
Is the winner going to have to play 2 games in one day? Final has to be Sunday
Who is this brunette with the gold earrings the camera keeps showing super close-up in slowmo at BETT1? Is there a reason for it, like is she a celebrity or something?
That’s how the cameraman shoots his shot🏀
Dear cameraperson: She will never notice you.
I wish there was more variation in the women’s game. Too much bam bam tennis. Of course this doesn’t apply to every player but could be used to describe a lot of players. It makes it boring to watch sometimes.
Well Aza's boom boom is just meeting Pegula's epic defense and, well, it will likely end up on the losing side.
Pegula is making Aza completely miserable and it shows, little by little, she loses her paitence with Pegula's meticulous defensive play.
Fantastic win for Norrie, what a year he continues to have. Also a great run from Draper. Cant wait to see more of him at Wimbledon
GSM Norrie. Glad to see his good run of form continue, really works for it
Aye, Vika. I hope she can take the 3rd.
[https://www.mallorca-championships.com/es/livestream](https://www.mallorca-championships.com/es/livestream) anyone watching the Mallorca exhibition? Novak and Lopez are meant to play later i think
They have started now
Just realized Nadal's withdrawal not only potentially gives Cilic a spot as a seed, but also bumps Berrettini up to the 8th seed. Helpful to avoid a nasty 4R against Djokovic!
Cilic would need one more player to pull out although Norrie getting to the final at Queens would scupper that.
8th seed wouldn’t face the number one seed in the 4th round, be QF at the earliest… I mean if you’re talking about Berrettini not Cilic
That was his point. If Nadal didn’t withdraw Berretini would be 9th seed
I get it now 👍
This suspension could help Denis. His serve looked wild today but at the same time it’ll give Frances a chance to reset tomorrow. Shapo will have to play two matches again like in Geneva if he wins this match. Doesn’t bode well for chances at the final
If he can beat Tiafoe in the 2nd set then beat Norrie/Draper in straights then it won't matter.
Is there a chance they resume play on Centre Court after Norrie/Draper?
Well its grass. As long as his serve is on and he is mentally tuned in, it wont be half as grueling as playing three clay matches in two days.
Wasn't Vika up 4-2 in the second set? Whoops
Why was the Shapo match suspended?
I think it was because it was getting a bit damp? Wasn't raining yet but misty. Starting raining as soon as the Norrie match finished anyway.
it's weird bc the norrie match is still going on
Canadian's don't seem too troubled today by minor tennis countries.
Isn't sunset in two hours in London? Why are they stopping?
Does Queen's club have a curfew? I forget.
Not sure, bit it doesn't have lights, so that will becpme a problem sooner
Silly that they start the matches so late in the day.
It was raining all morning there
Shapovalov with 6 DFs in his first 4 service games but wins the first set 6-3 lol
Tiafoe really hasn’t played bad, just couldn’t win the crucial points and he has to somehow improve his ability to return big serves
Cam Norrie capping off his stellar season by winning on home turf at ~~Wimbledon~~ Queen's Club would be quite something.
Why does tiafoe walk as if he has a 50lbs boulder on his back, but then runs like an agile little goat?
Gotta conserve energy
The DelPo strategy
So I was trying to remember where did I hear draper's name before then I realized he was the Wimbledon boys runner-up in 2018 and I remembered who won the girls title that year, our very own Iga Swiatek! Another interesting think is that Krejcikova/Siniakova won doubles that year, maybe it's time for a Swiatek-Krej semi in Wimbledon?
Let’s go Big Foe
Norrie finally growing into his game a bit. Such a tricky player and in such amazing shape...he was just making too many UEs and DFs for a counter puncher before.
His ability to chase down a ball is ridiculous. No wonder him and De Minaur are playing doubles together
I saw him practicing at TCU a couple of years ago. It was 100 degrees and everyone was dripping with sweat just trying to survive. Norrie was running lines on the court in between drills. He even had a vest on (which now I think was a body monitor but still must've added some heat). He's an absolute beast.
I don't know why, but Draper reminds me of Roddick
FAA over Humbie in two; Rublev over Basil-ash-vili in straights; Rublev over FAA in three, 6-2 in the decider.
You think FAA will win his first set in a final? Bold.
Yes. The first set specifically. But then he’ll start thinking about how close he is to lifting that first trophy and the nerves will set in. 4-6 in the second set. Gets it to 2-2 in the third but gets broken and then it’s lights out, 2-6.
Only to lose the 3rd set. PAIN
Missed this day. Is Felix coming in hot to lose the final?
As I said earlier, FAA has been cleared for takeoff!
You gotta be in it to lose it!
draper throwing UEs out atm
Alex Killmonger De Minaur lifting Cilic: *"Is this your* *~~king~~* *top Wimbledon contender?"*
Happy for De Minaur to get the win over Cilic, that 5 set loss to him at the US Open where he almost came back from 2 sets down was really his coming out party in my opinion so it's good to see him able to get a bit of revenge in their 2nd meeting. Will be interesting to see how both do at Wimbledon, I could see either or both making 2nd week with the right draw.
Fuck yes Alex! Boom!
Now let's go Draper!
De Minaur holding on by the skin of his teeth, but thats all he needs right now.
On a completely unrelated note, I wish there were like tennis trading cards, like baseball cards. Thatd be cool.
Azarenka or Pegula- who do you guys have??
I miss clay, grass is too fast for me to watch
Definitely do not miss clay waaay waaaay too slow.
I like both. The tour should test different skills.
All I can think is fast food, quick sex, pop songs, movie trailers, juvenile literature, Flash (and not Batman), comic stripes, snacks and serve and volleys
The duality of man!
You could clearly hear the introduction for Norrie-Draper at the Cilic match. Must be annoying for the players
Aight Vika it's time for revenge!
Three really good tennis matches in Berlin today. The fourth one looks promising on paper and hopefully we get another deciding set tiebreak
Where is the Cilic match streaming?
TC Plus 4
Thanks I got it!
live-tennis.stream has it
Today the three matches in Berlin had third set tie breaks lol here hoping for it once again
De Minaur seems like he must be just suffocating to play against when he's on his game and defending well.
Another disappointing loss for Madison sigh
Keys absolutely sucking in the deciding tie break. Credit to Samsonova serving bombs at crucial moments
Samsonova wins, FIT in shambles
berrettini looking absolutely imperious on grass so far. he’s a real contender for wimbledon.
He looks solid, though I'm still not sure if I would put him above a Tsitsipas/Zverev
idk if you saw zverev in halle but he was not great
Will be very happy if Alex can hold on and win here.
I have Draper to win this match up against Norrie. Should be good fun.
GSM Berrettini! Well done closing it out in straights, though Evans really vanished at a bad time to get broken to love, couldn't get it back when Matteo was serving for the set.
Cilic can’t get a first serve in at all. I’m on ADM to win but that’s very strange.
He probably remembered his odds for Wimbledon skyrocketed over the course of a week and felt the pressure.
Cilic back to 2019-20 mode with 4 random UE in a game to hand the break to Demon.
Ok berrettini finish this up I wanna watch shapo
Evans/Matteo just had the most aggressive slice-off I've ever seen. Like 7 nasty slices in a row
Jesus these grass slices...I've never played on grass, maybe one day
were can i get info on ao international tennis?
bought it cause it was the cheaper option but i cant really find any articles explaining the whole "download events for your career" other than user posts in steam or other forums or the career mode in general.
if this isnt the place to ask forgive me and ill delete this quick, but every tennis game sub is dead so i was kind of hoping to find some guys playing that game (or that played it before) here.
Maybe create a post on the sub rather than a comment here
Ah, most subs dont allow such posts.
Whill try, thanks!
Anything goes here. The mods are all dead
In a 600k sub? Wat?
Joking they just don’t monitor what’s posted
huh, so they just leave to the community to review what they want posted?
thats actually cool.
On the TennisTV stream, watching the Cillic vs De Minaur match (Go ADM), there's an LED board in the background with Nick Kygrios on it. Is he a former winner here or something? Because he ain't playing here.
Promo material made before Kyrgios withdrew
Albert Ramos is daddy material
He is one already, think his kid is a year now.
Berrettini needs to win this in two, else his stamina lets him down.
Damn, these netcords are up for a cig or a cuppa tea
Alex De Minaur is going to win this in 3.
Humbert is now the first French player at the ATP race (44th) ahead of Chardy (46th), Rinderknech (55th), Bonzi (58th) and Moutet (78th)
I wouldn't write off Chardy in Wimbledon. He is bad on clay but he still had a solid season in hard court. He also got unlucky with the draw in both AO and RG.
He got both times one of the future finalists in AO and RG, clearly unlucky. He also drew Rublev in the first round of the last US Open.
He lost his first two matches on grass (Hanfmann at Stuttgart, Bublik in the Queen's) though, not the best preparation.
he was supposed to play mallorca but withdrew, idk if he's injured or something
Evans is fun on grass
Expecting a 3 setter with a last set tiebreak tomorrow in FAA-Ugo, with Felix choking in the tiebreak ofc
For the record, they played exactly a week ago in Stuttgart and Félix won both sets by tiebreaks.
Score was 7-6 (7-5), 7-6(10-8)
Yeah but both are playing better than they did at Stuttgart, last week they were still in transition phase now they fully got used to the surface this match should be better, plus I read that the grass in Halle is faster than the one used in Stuttgart
I am not saying this is going to be easy for Félix. I am pointing out that Felix' tiebreak record has been 3-1 in the last two weeks, including two against Humbert.
So "not choking", and certainly "not choking ofc".
(That being said, he has had a poor beginning of the season. He is now 15 in the race, so hopefully good things will come.)
Trivia : Basilashvili is 16th in the race. That surprised me.
I love Felix lol I was just saying that because it's better to choke tomorrow than choke in another final it's becoming painful to watch.
Surprised about Basilashvili, checked for other surprises and found that Cam Norrie is 13th!! I know he's having a good season but this surprised me, both Norrie and Diego above Felix isn't a good sign he really needs to step up
I know it’s painful to watch, but I think that he has more and more tools in his box to deal with it. This week win against Federer is a great moment he can go when he feels the pressure. I am glad he lost the first set in this match although he had more opportunities than Federer to break. It shows he can come back from behind even against great players.
He has the biggest range among nextgen players that's why everyone is disappointed in him when he loses. Hopefully he can make it to Turin or at least grab a year-end top 10 finish
Damn. Korda still has a lot to be proud of
Wp Humbert, did well to hold off Korda at 3-3 in the deciding set. Hope Humbert-Felix is fun!
Yay Humbert! Bit tense at times, but stuck with his shots and made it through
Damn. Congrats Humbert!
ayee well done humbert
Let's go Korda
Ugo clutch serving!
Damn, Humbert vs Korda, Evans vs Berrettini and ADM vs Cilic at the same time.
I'm watching Humbert vs Korda because it's in the deciding set.
Damn, for most of the first set it was Evans hanging in there just keeping pace with Berrettini, then in the tiebreak it flipped and Berrettini came out on top!
Korda looks older than Humbert
Korda looks older than Djokovic.
Korda looks like an elderly woman in a young man's body
I kinda see that.
What I'm learning is that Korda could play Humbert's high school bully in a movie
I'm not seeing the bully thing, but if I were I'd what him to lose to FAA in a very close final where Korda is bullying FAA about his final record.
Evans plays very intelligently, high tennis IQ
Is it true that korda looks like s high school bully?
High school bullies can look like anyone. So yes. But you could also say the same for skinner, djokovic, Tiafoe, fucking anyone.
Korda seems really emotional when he shouldn’t be. He’s keeping pace with Umbert. He didn’t show much emotion in previous games
Ugo giving us a wet t-shirt show. Never seen nips so clearly. Must be a garbage fabric from Wilson.
It looks like that one t-shirt my bf has had for 10+ years but inexplicably refuses to throw away
He wants you to see his nipples
Is Fed taking a wildcard to any of the tourneys?
He doesn't need a wildcard.
He would need a WC now because he didn’t enter on time. But regardless he said he’s going back to Switzerland.
Basilashvili playing good in Germany as per usual
Berrettini backhand on par with Paire forehand? Or am I being too harsh lol
Wilson had an amazing kit for Ugo during clay season, but now they just gave him a stretched out, faded hospital sheet for a shirt and called it a day
Cilic ripping his forehand and he gets the break, he's a completely different player on grass this year
How's Alex playing? I can't watch cuz watching Humbert Korda.
Question in general and in the particular... Do you usually pay to watch challengers? I want to watch the finals of porto challenger? Do yall think it will have attendance? Thanks xoxo
I like korda’s composure. He just stuck with it that second set despite many missed opportunities. A lot of other players would’ve gone away.
Such maturity for a young player. Really impressive of
Korda looks like a high school bully, so I'll root against him
lol someone else had this same take and I don't see it, if anything his face looks older than his body
I don't see it at all
To me he looks like a humanoid handsome alien. His hair looks like little antennae.
He reminds me of the dude with rich parents who came to school with his surfboard on his jeep, side-hugged everyone, and was very chill.
But I don't think my high school really had bullies (oh god, does that mean it was me????) so I don't know the type outside of movies
I don’t see it
I don't see it tbh
Same here. He looks like the villain from an ‘80s teen movie
Tough bounce for Humbert to deal with on his forehand. Well done Korda! Back in it!
I’ve never seen a set with so many breakpoints and deuces but no actual breaks
Korda's match yesterday against Kei
let’s go korda!!!! what a close set
Freaking finally sebi
Matteo really needs to convert break points, it’s frustrating to watch…
Some of those points were absolutely phenomenal from Evans, it wasn't _entirely_ Berrettini's fault.
Looks like its heading to a tie break in the 2nd set of Humbert Korda.
Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about getting tickets to LTA events (like birmingham for example). On LTA they're all sold out was wondering if you can get resellers like other sports?
Random thought...what do we think players do with their old outfits. Donate them to local charity shops? I mean they get like 10 sets of the season's design and then in a few months a full new kit from their sponsor. They must be swimming in workout clothes.
Well in that lengthy interview Kasatkina gave to Sofya Tartakova it seems like she keeps all the clothes - and re-uses them since she lost nike as a sponsor. So I guess it really depends on wether you have a sponsor or not
