What happened to Nicola Kuhn, he was a top prospect in 2018, won a couple Challengers and was in top 200 before his 18th birthday, had a wildcard to Madrid that year…. Then I think he broke his foot, was out for a few months, and it seems he’s never been the same since. In the meantime his less celebrated Spanish contemporary, Davidovich Fokina, has overtaken him.
Quite sad, he still has time to turn it around, but he was spoken of in the same breadth as Felix around that time and it just hasn’t panned out.
Anyway, no shame in losing to Lopez on a slippery grass court, and he did well to qualify.
Is anyone watching Lopez vs Kuhn? Whenever I’m looking at Kuhn his face looks like a blond Goffin
Damn, apparently Muchova will not be on the olmyopic team because Vondurosova is using a protected ranking and has taken the last spot.
That really sucks for Muchova, wow. She’s had an excellent year so far, and I’d honestly predict she’d be more of a contender for a medal than Vondrousova.
That is really dumb. Can't they boot Pliskova out instead?
Kvitova, Muchova, Krejcikova, Vondrousova and Siniakova would be the best team
Is Kvitova not playing either?
Edited her back in, tbh I forgot how many they send to Olympics overall
The team is four I believe.
I'd like to keep Siniakova and Krejcikova together for doubles
Czechs have way too much talent, it is not fair lol
Vondu was injured?
She was out for like three months last season I think.
She played all of 2020 minus the pandemic. Can they go back to 2019? That seems a bit unfair.
I guess. I have no idea I just saw a thread about it on Twitter and Muchova confirmed she is unfortunately unable to play. Using a protected ranking for the Olympics of all things definitely should not be allowed.
Ah, Wimbledon gave Simona a cake so now she has to play!
Man, Kerber's on a rampage!
Awful awful terrible match by Petra but she pulls through
Am just happy she's not injured anymore...considering the number of players who are.
Yeah. there’s no point during the match where you thought “oh shit she might lose this.”
She was just vibing through the match and raising her level when needed
Peak Petra ☺️
Kvitova lost a set against Katarzyna Piter? Classic Petra
Take another bathroom break, Piter.
British weather is such a drag. Apologies to tennis fans on behalf of my country and its terrible weather.
Aww it’s ok we have far worse things to apologise for lol
like what? are you talking about US neocon foreign policy?
Why is my comment downvoted without any response
Lol your comment was very accurate, clearly some salty US patriots. From a Brit
Neocon is establishment Republican and Democrat. The military-industrial complex.
Patriots are not pro-neocon
Wasn’t me I don’t even know what it meant lol
Lol! What decade is this? Bad Homburg is playing Gwen Stefani's 'Rich Girl'.☺️
Wtf is going on in the Eastbourne tournament?
Laver cup is ridicoulos. Every player inside the top 10 is european,
Did they announce the teams?
Russia needs to be booted to Team World to make this somewhat fair
(also allows for Meddy vs Tsitsipas matchups)
Russia isn't even in Europe really. Its East of eastern europe. Should defo be on team world.
Exactly what I was thinking
Well, Russians do talk about "going to Europe". But then again so do Brits, so maybe they should be in Team World too.
Brits would need a player that is good enough for Laver Cup first!
True! It's only the World team though.

Kvitova what you doing? 😩 Piter's playing well though...
she’s just sending everything long atm
Kvitova looks a bit rusty but thankfully no signs of that infamous RG injury.
Play has officially been cancelled for today @ Eastbourne. Better luck tomorrow... Ironically, it just stopped raining.
Eastbourne and Wimbledon Qualifying done for the day? Cannot read anything on it.
Yeah they’re done since it’s supposed to rain for the rest of the day.
Nice. Sandgren wins.
tennis tennys from tennessee
Is Adidas coming out with new Barricades? I see players like Munar and FAA wearing barricade-looking shoes but I thought they discontinued them. I'm really in the need of new tennis shoes and if they are coming out with new barricades that might stop me from trying the Gel Resolutions
The Gel Res 8s are absolutely amazing man. As a fellow old-days Barricade fanatic, the Asics are ridiculously good in every aspect. Except price maybe lol.
Why has the women's qualifying draw for Wimbledon still not been released?
Because it’s not until 4pm tomorrow.
Oops my mistake it was today at 4pm. It’s out now.
[Wawrinka has posted an insta video from hospital ](https://www.instagram.com/reel/CQYkuzLBxkN/?utm_medium=copy_link)
No comment on what’s up but surely this rules him out for the Olympics now too.
oh no. Back in the hospital. why do all these operations seem to need do overs.
The week-before-a-slam-250s always feel so long.
Especially when there's so little play because of rain.
A couple interesting stats looking at defended Wimbledon points:
* SO many top players lost in R1 in 2019, so this is a great opportunity to pick up some easy points with a semi-decent run - Tsitsipas, Thiem, Zverev, Shapo, Monfils, Dimitrov, Ruud, Garin, Carreño Busta.
* With Nadal out, the first 3 names are all within striking distance of overtaking him at #3. It would be a return for Thiem and Zverev, but a new CH for Tsitsipas, who it's also most likely for - need a QF run (the other two need a run to the final).
* If Federer does not make the final, he'll be overtaken by Berrettini at #8 - mainly interesting for US Open, where he could be a potential R4 opponent for a top 8 seed.
* Carreño Busta has never made it past 1R in his career! 5 MD appearances. Maybe his luck will change, but if it weren't the prestige of a grand slam I'd wonder if he'd be better off cleaning up a HC/clay challenger for more than 10 points.
* Sinner, Karatsev, and Korda all have opportunities to pick up points given they were not in the MD in 2019.
Rublev could also overtake Rafa with a run to the final, right?
Didn't Tsitsipas say once that grass is his favourite surface and Wimbledon is his favourite tournament? But then he also said that clay is his favourite surface after winning Monte Carlo...I guess it's a seasonal thing for him, based on whichever surface he's currently playing well on 😒
I think Clay is 100% his favourite surface and he’s said more than once that Roland Garros has been his favourite tournament since he was a little kid. But he also has had really good grass results as a junior and did make it the 4th round in 2018. I wouldn’t be surprised if grass is his second favourite.
I'm not sure I agree Tsitsipas is most likely to go deep. He's definitely in the best form of the lot, but IIRC, Zverev has a better grass court record. But then again no grass courts in 2020 makes that a less useful stat.
I meant that I find it more likely that Tsitsipas makes the QFs than Zverev makes the final (in order to overtake Nadal).
Oh, yeah, definitely agree with that.
That's how the rule of King Ruud on grass begins!
Overall solid from Ruud even though the end wasnt that great. First grasscourt win on the tour for Casper
Ruud trying to out-push the main pusher on the ATP and this strategy may work at the end
Yeah Simon 100% lost that set, Ruud just let him implode. Strange to see Simon play like that. I hope he gets it together soon
His recent interviews have made it sound like he's got one foot or e the door, with the lack of crowds due to COVID being a major factor.
It appears Wimbledon/Ticketmaster are cancelling tickets which have used the same payment card to buy more than 2 even if using separate myWimbledon and Ticketmaster accounts.
Here we are again. The week before a slam that lasts 7 years.
Anyone who knows when wimbledon qualifiers wil start?
I always wonder if there are interesting stories behind Davis Cup group IV encounters. A guy from Ivory Coast (19, ranked 757, doing wel at ITF level) beat an unranked Nigerian 6-0/6-0 in 53 minutes.
Names : Eliakim Coulibaly
Where can you watch Mallorca? It's not on prime in UK like most tournaments
is he playing bad?
Yeah really bad, i dont get why they play tournaments they dont care about…
I think he won't be able to help it. He's basically a hard court player, doesn't even come to the net that often.
Great backhand winner to finish that set. Lets go, Casper!
It's painful watching some of these hard/clay court specialists on grass. It really is. Some of them are just utter shit.
Strike a comparison between two young talented players - I just saw the third set of Tauson-Blinkova, and Tauson didn't look comfortable at all. Her shots became completely wild by the end. She has a lot of work to do on grass, right now she's terrible to watch.
Meanwhile, Ann Li, who's surely not spent *that* much time on grass, actually does look comfortable, on the basis of this first round match. Her attacking fhs and bhs look good and shes even throwing in some slice for good measure.
Don't put your money on Tauson for Wimbledon.
Tauson is too young and grass is difficult even for those who have a bit of experience. Putting money on anyone in the WTA draw for Wimbledon is terribly risky. Expecting atleast two first time semi finalists and one new finalist at Wimbledon seems fair
Not sure if she's gonna be able to take this set against Siegemund but what a game Riya has!! 👏👏
Link for that natch?
[Here. ](https://live-tennis.stream/watch/laura-siegemund-free.html) she's been broken in the third set though 😩
The way Dominic talked about losing motivation after winning a slam was so sad
The Austrian also spoke about the lack of motivation that he faced after winning the Grand Slam.
“It's quite normal, it happens. You work hard for a certain big goal and you finally achieve it. In my case, it happened after losing three finals, so it was a huge goal and an equally huge relief. After that I started to think, and I lacked a little motivation.
That’s where he went wrong. His goal should have been to win multiple slams lol
Kind of hard to have that goal when 3 players are monopolizing 90 pct. of the slams for 15 years. How many players have won slams in the past 15? 6? Cilic, Wawrinka, Murray + Big 3
Is the wimbledon seeds locked now? With the ranking that game out today
Yes unless Nadal says he’s changed his mind lol
I wonder if someone can withdraw then change their mind?!
Sorribes Tormo is so loud you can hear her better than Blinkova and Tauson in their court
It almost made me want to tune into her match *so I could see the shots that matched the grunts.*
It's so annoying when you hear it from other courts.
It was both players actually.. You could hear two distinctive loud grunts coming from the other court.
Yeah. Trevisan also has a very distinct grunt
Samsonova gets a wild card as expected
Yea it was announced yesterday. Can’t recall who got the last male WC
Alex Bolt I think
Indian Lucky loser, world no. 362 Riya Bathia destroying Siegemund, nice
Does Harris and Ruud have a decent chance to win their match? I have been follow both lately but can’t see them winning easily in Mallorca.
Harris yes, Ruud IDK, he's a *specialist*
This couldve aged better
Simon you mean?
Ruud is a clay specialist, Simon is multi-surface.
The weather in Eastbourne is awful. Raining is supposed to get even worse n the coming hours and only at 4PM it's supposed to stop temporarily but the chance of rain goes right back up to above 70% at 6PM.
Tomorrow looks a *bit* better, but only wednesday seems to have a bit of guaranteed sun out.
No play before 2pm at Eastbourne
Will they play after 2pm or they don’t know that?
Depends on the weather.
THE BEST SLAM STARTS TODAY!
are they going to play today? The weather doesnt seems to be that good
I think one match in the evening and the rest will be played tomorrow :)
Some one knows if the Wimbeldon plays-offs are going to start in 30 minutes or will they be delayed and be played tomorrow?
DAE find it really annoying when you google dates for a tournament and you get dates that include qualifying?
Nah. Especially if you follow certain players who often have to go through qualifying. i.g. Hsieh.
Nah because qualies are the most interesting part of slams before r4
Sometimes I can't tell the difference between stan twitter and tennis twitter
how is the weather forcast for the Wimbeldon playoffs?
Damn and double damn.
Forecast really bleak. Rain expected throughout day.
they won’t be playing right?
Is Kyrgios playing Wimbledon?
rip nole dreams /s
Damn that would be a great early round popcorn match/story
The weather forecast for Eastbourne seems awful. I wonder if we're getting much play today.
I just realized Struff lost in Mallorca. So Thiem will face Mannarino.
Karlovic vs Safiullin is the match of the day for me.
