Does anyone know if the Mallorca tournament is streaming on Amazon prime ?
I don't think it is
Anyone going to Laver Cup in Boston?
Got my tickets first thing this morning. Me and my mom are doing full session. Her sister lives in Boston
How much were your tickets?
We got Balcony row 12, which was 325 per person. The higher rows in the balcony were 275.
No shame losing to a two-time Wimbledon champion but Li was exemplary in that second set, really made Kvitova work for it. Also grass suits her game a lot. She serves well, hits deep groundstrokes, comes to the net often, even hits the one odd drop shot to disrupt her opponents rhythm, just needs to become a little more consistent. Hoping she builds on this performance at Wimbledon.
couldn't watch the match today but Li has been an impressive prospect to watch this year
Petra just decided it's getting too late for tennis under natural light and rightly put the match to rest.
Petra is giving: "I'm definitely going to withdraw after this match"
Ann li goes for a winner every shot.lol
It's okay to just get the ball back occasionally and build up to the winner
Wow, just saw the scoreline for Kasatkina/Swiatek. Not shocked that Kasatkina won, but wtf happened those last two sets?
Iga looked gassed after yesterday and Kasatkina played flawless.
So when does Iga begin her lessons with Sir Andy?
Is daria kasatkina not sponsored by Nike or she doesn’t like wearing the new clothes?
They cut her contract
With that scoreline, if I hadn't seen the match I'd assume Swiatek played through a worsening injury. Kasatkina deserves credit for strong play -- has she ever won 11 of 12 consecutive games before? (Actually, has she ever held serve 6 times in a row before?)
to be fair Swiatek was tanking the 2nd set after 0-3 but Daria was super impressive in the 3rd when Iga was trying again. Very confident tennis. She played like that in RG against Bencic. I don't know how she lost to Cirstea a round later. It would be nice to see Daria making her first SF in a slam in Wimbledon. Playing at this level I think it's possible.
She did win 6-2 6-2 against Bencic in RG, She served very well but I am not sure if she held serve 6 times though.
She beat Kerber 0 and 2 during her IW run in 2018. She beat Halep 1 and 2 at 2017 Wuhan.
When was the last time Dasha had this kind of a scoreline against a top 10 player? Awesome!
Also, I see she has made the neck scratch as a celebratory gesture now ahaha
Can't wait for the Ostapenko rematch - Ostapenko was super salty when she lost the last time.
She beat Wozniacki in 2018, so quite a while ago...
Rooting for Ann Li atm
I thought watching Naomi when she has a bad day on court was brutal but Iga on her bad day is even worse.
A Penko-Dasha match up - gonna be super interesting
Interviewer: What do you like about playing on grass?
Dasha: It's green
On the downside, I'd guess slippery grass makes it harder to do her signature jumping backhand; did she get to try one today?
She did make at least one in the 1st set but that wasn't a winner, it did set the point up for her.
Medvedev said something similar, he likes green too.
I came in rooting for Kvitova but now I've fallen for Ann Li! 🥰 How can you not the way she's painting the lines all around Kvitova?
Swiatek fans were raving about her opening bakeries or something during RG, but look who's delivering the bread products today lol
Congrats to Dasha, her serve is on when she's confident. Hope she can make a deep run in Wimby.
Super impressive from Dasha. Iga's game somehow fell off a cliff after the first set but Dasha could have taken out anyone today. Ran for every single ball even when she had double break advantage. The quality of the groundstrokes gives hope for a deep run at Wimbledon. She is seeded and with a favorable draw could be a decent shot at QF atleast
At least iga got her first win on grass
So only the top seed made it to the quarters in the women's event at Eastbourne...
Finally another Top 10 victory for Dasha, she deserves it so much <3. She is such a joy to watch and this win will give her even more confidence!
Happy to see Dasha playing so well
Iga didn't look good today
Poor thing looked so lost. That was painful to watch.
Glad it's over. Oof
Dasha is finally integrating her arsenal of good shots. I'm happy for her.
Dasha just played insane tennis. Such easy power. So self-assured, confident. Wow, I love that she's doing so well!!
Probably Iga will go out in the first round of Wimbledon.
Still needs to improve a lot on grass, surprisingly she won Wimledon as Junior.
Swiatek looks miserable out there
I like Świątek, but I like Dasha more. This has just made me realise how little I care about the nationalities of tennis players (unless I don't know them at all, then I might cheer a Pole rather than a Russian - maybe). As a Brit I might feel obliged to "back the Brits" though.
Kasatkina has such a beautiful game. Quite the artist on court
Dasha said in a Russian interview that Nike hasn't extended her contract. Is it still the case?
Wonder which company will sign her up? Lacoste? Diadora? - it would be good if a brand with high profile male players but not women gave her a contract.
Expecting a renewal with Nike or sign up with Adidas. And they hopefully sign before Wimbledon so she gets the bonus if she makes second week
It seems like she still has a good relationship with Nike. Would be only natural for them to pick her up again.
Boring, but more money for Kasatkina.
they will bite their nails soon if she continues.
Ugh love Kasatkina so much. Would love for her to win a slam. Such entertaining game and lovely person.
Who is this dodo commentator on TC pronouncing Swiatek as "Swinetek"?
The IPA is "ɕfʲɔntɛk", so it's not exactly easy. If you try "shwyaw-tek" with a certain accent it can sound like that.
Well, he is a commentator so pronouncing things correctly on-air is kinda important.
Brad Gilbert once said Richard Gasket.
Damn come on Iga
wow daria played so well in that last game, iga suddenly a lot more intense and she actually matched her
It's ok. Things happen when they need to happen. Karatsev reaching grandslam semifinal, winning a title and even beating world no. 1 at 27, Krejcikova winning her 1st WTA title 2 weeks before winning RG at 25...and this is just this year, there are more stories from previous years. Important thing is to remain optimistic and keep working hard...that's what I see all these people doing all their lives in preparation for these life defining moments! ☺️
I feel like she has improved her serve and that’s really helping her rise up the rankings again.
Ann Li playing really well against Kvitova right now...a very competitive match up!
Shit I totally forgot about bad hambourg
Hehe! Too many tournaments this week...🥵
Iga has upped her level, Dasha keep playing your best please
Kasatkina has won 7 games in a row
You know who else won 7 games in a row today? Monfils.
Make that 8
Gauff/Ostapenko and Andreescu/Putintseva the doubles pairings I didn’t know I needed
A taste of her own medicine
well that was a surprising second set, dasha playing flawlessly.
She really is!!! I’m rooting for her.
Iga looks a shadow of her self right now. She seems to be lacking energy.
Iga about to eat a bagel
Nom nom nom.... those carbs might give her some energy for the 3rd set?
iga's inconsistency on serve has been her downfall multiple times, as much as it pains me to say as a fan, i don't think she'll be a threat at wimby unless she somehow gets better there
I think that Iga is not considering herself a threat at wimby as well.
she stated that it is going to be mostly a learning experience and her expectations are pretty low :D
She was never a threat at wimby
Possibly the worst set I’ve seen Iga play
She's giving like 20%, trying to catch some rest before the 3rd. Her match yesterday took a big toll on her.
Yeah she is showing zero energy. Not a good body language.
I was about to comment this
Iga’s serve has just abandoned her.
Kwon Soon-woo lost in the first round of qualifying at Eastbourne to Alastair Grey. Grey lost in the second round of qualifying to James Duckworth, before entering the draw as a lucky loser and losing in the first round to qualifier Ilya Ivashka. Duckworth lost in the first round to Max Purcell, a lucky loser who lost in the final qualifying round to Ilya Ivashka. In the quarterfinals, Purcell will play lucky loser Andreas Seppi, who lost in the final round of qualifying to Mikhail Kukushkin, who lost in the first round to Alexander Bublik. Meanwhile, Kwon has not only entered the draw as a lucky loser, but also received a bye into the second round, where he defeated Marton Fucsovics. Kwon will play Ivashka, who beat Grey, who beat Kwon, in the quarterfinals.
I think I started accidentally reading the Wikipedia entry for Primer about halfway through trying to understand this
Yeah, I wrote it and I'm not sure I follow it.
Kwon lost in first round qualies at Eastbourne to someone ranked 1133 but after winning one match as LL, Kwon is now in the QFs
Korean tactical masterclass
Finally after five straight breaks of serve we have a hold!!!
random question - is it possible to qualify for both the tour finals and the next gen finals?
Yes. If that happens, the player will probably skip the next gen finals.
Yes, Zverev did so multiple times.
Good battle between Kasatkina and Swiatek so far but I thought we would see more rallies with these 2 on court. They are playing short points.
Well this is a grass court, long rallies are not common.
Are we sure Eastbourne is a grass court? There are so many breaks in this Iga match.
they're just not serving that well im afraid lol
Is Swiatek getting her groove on grass or was her first opponent Watson a better grass player than her current opponent Kasatkina?
It's also warmer today, the ball bounces more which suits her.
Kasatkina is a better grass player than Watson. She made final in Birmingham a few days ago and also made QF in Wimbledon in the past.
Ah okay cool. Thanks for telling me. Not really familiar with most WTA players yet.
Iga is playing with a lot more confidence today.
She looked very lost on grass yesterday, despite her win
Great play from kerber
anyone see similar forehand styles from kasatkina and swiatek, although swiatek does have more pace on the forehand
Similar technique, completely different implementation
McDonald is 41 in the race rankings (2nd American) but is still ranked outside the top 100 and grinding through qualies
To add on to the other comment he missed the second half of 2019 due to injury, so others have points from that period due to covid rankings, whereas he doesn’t.
He started the year ranked 191, and most other players still have a lot of points left from the last year. This combined with the freeze makes it hard to move up.
The challenges of entering a season ranked 191.
Dollar store Tsitsipas took out Monfils today at the Norseman 250.
If your referring to Lloyd Harris he did not play today.
Wtf McDonald? 5-0 to 5-4\*
12 breaks of serve entire match 🙄
Mackie just couldn't close it out...
Kerber straight-up murdering Blinkova out there
I'm really enjoying Djokovic in doubles!!
Djokovic's goals ranked:
1) Winning a second doubles tournament
2) Calendar Year Gold Slam
3) World peace 'n shit
Cure cancer too.
Wow Djoko casually enrolling in doubles and knocking out top seeds. Man is legend.
He knows he needs more grass court practice before Wimbledon, so he's making extra sure to not lose and have every match go the distance.
Which is even more impressive
Good day at Wimbledon qualifiers for women...Kalinskaya, Konjuh, Burel, Osorio Serrano and Pironkova, all through! Hoping for the best for Astra Sharma.
Demon looks so good and comfortable on the grass, with a nice draw at Wimbledon he might be able to go deep.
He needs a more powerful serve. I can’t see him making it far without that.
any1 has a fucsovics stream?
All day hyped about the Iga - Dasha match 🙃 someone else?
Excited for Iga to lose fo sho.
I have a feeling vika will withdraw next match to focus on getting healthy for Wimbledon.
She's had more than enough practice on grass
she’s been having rough injuries all year
Isn’t it the same back injury that has been plaguing her?
Lots of troll comments tonight lol the heck is going on
Unsurprisingly, degenerate gambler u/blackwoe did well in the RG prediction tournament, getting 11th place.
Congrats, well done.
I admire the creativity behind your colourful titles of people, and I also accept the warm compliment. Thank you.
The laver cup sale is on - let's go! This might be the last time I could get to see Federer play live!
Gauffstapenko seems like an odd doubles pairing but it’s working
Troicki retired after losing in Wimbledon qualies, wow! He had a great career
Why do people call Riske a classic grass player?
First time watching her and she doesn't look like she belongs on the court
Good thing the comment wasn’t based on this match.
She's a classic serve and volleyeur, who had deep penetrating groundstrokes and a solid first serve in her prime (now less consistent) before COVID, marriage and her break from tennis...
seems like one of these matches where sabalenka just looks unbeatable, these r getting more and more frequent
Fery vs Ebden down to the deciding set and Fery just broke his serve, come on lad!
Great win vika
Marcel Granollers has such impeccable hands im so jealous
Man what a win! 3 hrs of absolute bliss! Good day to be called Victoria/Viktorija ☺️
hoping for a Sabalenka loss today
Oh god we have to listen to azarenka for at least another match. Disappointing
Vika wasted 2 match points and saved 4 before finally getting it done after 3+ hours.
She was serving flat footed at one point though.
Gomez-Herrera looks like he could be Fernando Verdasco's brother, they have the exact same body type!
That's an outstanding win for vika
Sounds like someone lost some money today ....
Mackie's opponent is annoying (I don't want to comment on appearance but whatever)
Azarenka somehow managed to come up with a more obnoxious grunt than her last one
Sabalenka has got this right? If/when she wins this, its gonna be at least a 2/3 today for the players I support between Rybakina's win and Coco's loss.
Riske is a rare grass court specialist so it will be difficult.
Idk, Riske can be quite good on grass, and Sabalenka isn't exactly the most consistent
Bianca just never got going today. Unfortunate
I'll be shocked if she can win two matches there
I don't gamble
So you're just talking hot air then
Sounds like it is you who was talking out of your ass. Luckily for you, I don't gamble
A bet with no money
I win you change your flair to "I was wrong. Vqwertbnm was right."
You win I change my flair to "I was wrong. Wtfwhy90 was right."
If you don't accept this bet, then you're just talking hot air
Vika and Cornet are going to keep this going forever
What's going on with Kenin? Why isn't she in any of these tournaments?
Is she still having personal problems? She removed her father as coach but I don't know who she's working with now.
She had a new coach at RG
She had a decent result at RG without her dad
Cornet v. Azarenka:
"Call an ambulance!
...but not for me!
Seriously though, for me.
Okay but really, not for me.
Look, can we just share an ambulance?"
Perhaps a dip in Kontaveit's game? She was hitting all the lines from mid way through the first till now. If Andreescu can hold this may be interesting.
C’mon Bibi..3 sets
Wonder how much crying azarenka will do after this match
